Pallante and the Cardinals go for the series sweep vs. the Marlins on Wednesday at 5:40 p.m. (St. 香港三级片 time) in Miami.

The Cardinals' bats stayed hot Tuesday for a second-straight night.

The right-hander Pallante (6-10, 5.04 ERA) has watched as the effectiveness of his four-seamer, a plus pitch a year ago, has plummeted.

Batters have hit .400 or better against it in six of Pallante's last seven outings.聽

In August, foes are hitting .565 against the four-seamer, a big reason why he is 1-6 with a 7.60 ERA in his last seven starts.

Before his current seven-game slump, Pallante had a strong couple of months, putting up a 3.70 ERA in 10 starts. The biggest difference is launch angle. Batters had a minus-2 launch angle then, meaning they were pounding the ball into the ground. In this troublesome stretch, it's plus-6.

Pallante's best start of the season came last month vs. the Marlins at Busch. He went seven innings, allowing one hit and no runs.

The Marlins will send out聽right-hander Sandy Alcantara (6-11, 6.31 ERA), who allowed just three hits and no runs in five innings vs. St. 香港三级片 last months. He's on pace for his worst career year after missing 2024 with Tommy John Surgery.

Alcantara began his big-league career with the Cardinals, debuting in 2017 and appearing in eight games before being traded as part of the Marcell Ozuna deal.

The Cardinals are 63-64 and have won two straight. A win Wednesday would be the team's first sweep since late June at Cleveland. The Cardinals are five games out of the final wild-card spot.

The Marlins are 59-67 and 4-12 in their last 16.

Injury report

Brendan Donovan, 2B (sprained toe/left groin):聽An injury sustained before the All-Star break persists and is likely contributing to soreness in his leg and groin, the infielder said recently.
