Mizzou's much-hyped 2024 football season finally begins Thursday when the Tigers host Murray State in Columbia, Missouri.
Thursday's game, at least on paper, looks like a colossal mismatch.
The Tigers are 11th in the Associated Press preseason poll, while Murray State, a football championship subdivision school, was picked to finish last in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
The Tigers are coming off an 11-2 season that culminated in a Cotton Bowl win over Ohio State.
The Racers were 2-9 overall last season and 1-7 in what was their first season in the Missouri Valley.
Mizzou has won both meetings vs. the Racers, most recently a 58-14 win in 2013.
