COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri men's basketball will hire Griffin McHone as its next director of basketball operations, a source familiar with discussions told the Post-Dispatch.
The hire, which could be announced as soon as Monday, solidifies a key staffing position under coach Dennis Gates heading into the 2025-26 season.
McHone was most recently an assistant coach at South Florida, where he started as director of player development. He also directed operations at Kennesaw State after graduating from Texas A&M.
At both stops, McHone worked with the late Amir Abdur-Rahim, a beloved coach who died last October.
McHone replaces Dalon King as Mizzou's director of basketball operations following King's acceptance of an assistant coach position at Cleveland State with former MU assistant Rob Summers at.

Directors of basketball operations, or DOBOs for short, are among the top staff positions within college programs and can be a pipeline to assistant positions — which McHone already has under his belt.
This offseason, Gates has hired Steve Wright away from Duquesne to become an assistant coach for the Tigers, brought David "Dickey" Nutt back up to an assistant position and will also hire the program's first general manager.
