For its 25th anniversary, St. 香港三级片 Shakespeare Festival is staging 鈥淗amlet,鈥 the story about the prince who has a big decision to make: Should he murder his uncle who also happens to be king of Denmark? He has his reasons, namely his dad came back from the dead and told him to. The festival stage was damaged in the tornado, but festival organizers don鈥檛 think it鈥檒l delay opening night. The victim is a prominent novelist who was shot at his own surprise birthday party. Helping Marcus is his silent partner Lou. So what鈥檚 the twist? The comedic play has more than a dozen roles, but only two actors playing them.

Rewind the clocks to 2001. A horrible terrorist attack has just happened in the United States, and 38 commercial flights have to reroute to鈥 Gander, Newfoundland. You鈥檝e never heard of it and neither have any of the displaced passengers. In 鈥淐ome From Away,鈥 playing for the first time at the Muny, the town mounts a heartwarming response to its 7,000 surprise guests.

Patti Murin originated the role of Anna in 鈥淔rozen鈥 on Broadway. She鈥檒l reprise the role at the Muny this summer. Here she performs as Anna at the 72nd annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in 2018.

Stray Dog Theatre is staging its first-ever opera. The company is known for doing plays and musicals, but artistic director Gary Bell was in 鈥淭he Second Hurricane,鈥 an opera by Aaron Copland, when he was young, and wanted to give other kids the opportunity to be in it, too. The youth opera, with a libretto by Edwin Denby, is about kids trying to help a community during a hurricane.

When Georges and Albin鈥檚 son says he鈥檚 engaged to the daughter of a conservative politician, the gay couple knows just what to do 鈥 conceal who they really are to make sure an in-law visit goes off without a hitch. Obviously, that doesn鈥檛 work. The musical inspired the 1996 film 鈥淭he Birdcage鈥 and last graced the Muny stage nearly 40 years ago.

This year, they鈥檙e reprising their 2022 production of 鈥淎 Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream.鈥 It is an afro-futuristic version of the Shakespearean comedy directed by local artist Tre鈥檝on Griffith.
